New boy band MADTOWN has released a teaser video for the group’s forthcoming debut song, “YOLO.”
From what can be heard of the song, it would appear that the boys will be making a high-tempo, dance-driven debut. The video also seems to demonstrate that the group will also be able to boast a host of energetic and acrobatic dance moves, too.
MADTOWN is the brainchild of talent agency J.Tune Camp, which also manages fellow boy band MBLAQ, as well as five-piece girl group Two X. The new act is a seven-member group, led by a member called Moos. The group also boasts a Japanese-speaking member named Buffy. J.Tune Camp has previously released individual and group profile images for the rookie act. “YOLO” is slated to drop on October 6. by: Koreaboo MAD TOWN is confirmed to debut into the K-Pop industry officially on October 6th. MAD TOWN is a new 7-member boy group under J.Tune Camp, also known as MBLAQ’s juniors. Last week, the member profiles of the 3 older members were revealed first, followed by the 4 remaining member profiles the day after. The group then gathered together to tease their potential fans with 2 different sets of cool and fun group teaser images! The older groups in the K-pop industry usually gain love and support from their fans for their concept that is more or less fixed, but it is more stressful for rookies as they only have one chance to be rookies and they have to attract the public with their debut concept. Being the one and only other boy group that is under J.Tune Camp, many have started comparing MAD TOWN with MBLAQ. However, MAD TOWN responds by saying that they definitely differ from MBLAQ, from the stage outfits to their dance choreography style. MBLAQ has a more formal style of wearing suits on stages, but MAD TOWN will focus on street-style fashion for their stages. The group also explained how they got their group name MAD TOWN; the meeting of 7 bad boys who are free-spirited, have a passion for music, and know how to play hard. While having hip-hop as the basis of the group, they hope to show exciting performances with a proper vocal line. Since they have 7 members, MAD TOWN is said to form a rainbow with their 7 different charms. In charge of rap is Moos the leader, Daewon is the main dancer, and Lee Geon is the main vocal. Jota, who came from Busan, will share rapping and vocal roles with charismatic Heo Jun. The maknae line consisting of Buffy and H.O will be the atmosphere makers of the team with their young spirits. MAD TOWN has been preparing for debut for nearly 2 years, but were affected when JYP debuted GOT7 in January this year, and the concepts seemed to overlap slightly. GOT7 is also a 7-member group focused on hip-hop and acrobatics. In response, MAD TOWN said that GOT7 is a well-organized team, but MAD TOWN will be a free-spirited version of GOT7. MAD TOWN’s debut title track will be “YOLO”, where YOLO (you only live once) has been a trend in USA’s hip-hop scene. It will fit well with MAD TOWN’s concept of being free-spirited. With their debut coming up next week, MAD TOWN expresses that they have been excited ever since they received their first song. They teased by saying that their song will be an addictive one. Despite being rookies in the industry, the members have already participated in writing lyrics and choreographing their dance, where there will be a special “monkey dance” for “YOLO”. This debut album is produced together with Shin Hyuk’s Joombas Music Group, which had produced hit songs like Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl”, EXO’s “Growl”, SHINee’s “Dream Girl”, and Girls’ Generation’s “I Got A Boy”. |
